Goatskin is the standard for bee gloves because it is thin. You need to feel the frame to know when a bee is under your finger.
The canvas gauntlet runs up the forearm and vents, which is where cheap gloves fail. Solid sleeves get sweaty and you end up taking them off halfway through the inspection.
Bee gloves are a consumable. Propolis and smoker soot ruin them in a season or two. Worth saying out loud rather than pretending otherwise.
